Maintenance Stationary Journeyman Facilities Engineer

At Tross Operating Engineers we're looking for a Facilities Maintenance Engineer to join our team.

This is a Local 701 Union Position


Pay: $35.70 - $40.00 per hour

Full-time · Portland, OR

General Responsibilities: 

This is a hands-on position

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Stationary Facilities Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate should have completed the courses for a stationary engineer and preferably holds an LME certification. This is a full-time position with full benefits, including a pension plan.

*Must have technical, vocational, or on-the-job training in at least one of the following areas: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, process control, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair. A valid LME license, or industry-related licenses, certifications, or accreditations are encouraged.*

Duties & Objectives:

  • Conduct general repairs and maintenance of stationary equipment and systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems

  • Follow all safety procedures and protocols

  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and report any issues or concerns to management

  • Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers through email and smart phone usage

  • Work with co-workers to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment and systems

  • Respond to customer requests for maintenance and repairs in a timely manner

  • Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment and systems to ensure they are operating efficiently and safely

Specific Job Requirements:

  • Completed courses for a stationary engineer and preferably holds an LME certification

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Good communication and customer service skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Must be able to use a smart phone and email

  • Must be able to complete preventative maintenance

  • Must be able to complete general repairs and maintenance

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to work frequently indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, at high elevations and high-rise roof tops. This position may be assigned to one or multiple buildings at various job sites throughout their workday or workweek. This position may be exposed to the risk of electrical shock. This position works near moving mechanical parts, in elevated locations, and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Noise level is usually moderate.

Physical requirements include the ability to stoop, stand, balance, kneel, and crawl. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted. Requires agile use of fingers and hands, able to reach overhead with hands and arms, and regular climbing of ladders up to eight feet high. Must have good hand/eye coordination, depth perception, and able to distinguish colors.
